KOMU is the hyperlocal community platform that connects neighbors, local businesses, and professionals from the same neighborhood or city in one place.

Inspired by the idea of a “Nextdoor for Colombia and Latin America,” KOMU is redesigned and adapted to the region’s reality: in Spanish, with local geography and a focus on neighborhood commerce.

Beyond a neighborhood social network, it integrates real business tools from day one —catalog, metrics, members, and plans— along with its own loyalty system based on digital coupons and stamp cards.

It operates in Colombia with a vision to expand across Latin America, under the tagline “Connecting communities, empowering local.”

Solution

We designed and developed the KOMU experience as a hyperlocal community platform, centered on proximity-based discovery and local commerce.

We built a clear architecture by sections and roles: a community feed, a map and location-based search (near me, my city, explore), and profiles for neighbors, businesses, and professionals.

We defined the business module with profile, product and service catalog, visibility metrics (visits and WhatsApp clicks), team members, and plans.

We designed the “Benefits” loyalty system: redeemable coupons and a configurable digital stamp card (between 3 and 12 stamps) with a customizable reward for each business.

We developed personal and business onboarding, with geolocation by Colombian departments and cities, and avatars.

We crafted a cohesive visual identity and a Spanish (es-CO) interface focused on closeness, trust, and community.

The structure was prepared to scale to new cities and support regional expansion across Latin America.
